Ecclesiastes 3,1: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” In the light of Christ, this famous Biblical passage indicates that there is a time for everything, yes, but the written words here become even more positive than in the thoughts of the original author. He was puzzled, for God did everything at the right time, yet the endless cycle of change bewildered him. The writer didn’t know how to see “the right moment.” But God, through His Son, has put timelessness into our hearts and Jesus has taught us that we can go forward to a future in God, in all of His glory. After all, to Him change means the riches of variety and the opportunity to see “the right time” ... and to use it well in the service of the Kingdom.
The Christian “context,” then, is that God, in His wisdom orders the course of time and He leads the world and His people to our destiny in Christ Jesus! God does all things well: He allows us see with eyes of faith all of the opportunities He gives us in every moment. He also helps us use our time and our life and all of His good gifts to build up the Kingdom – stone by stone – until He completes it in His own good time.
