Many of us are bowed down with the burdens and worries of our lives. Many of us are weighed down and even held captive by the terrible weights that we carry, sometimes in solitary sadness. The injustices that surround us, the illnesses or injuries that we or those we love have to endure, and so many other “problems” ... in the midst of it all, where do we turn?
Some of us carry terrible secrets or a paralyzing fear or some unconfessed sins. Some of us are often affected by spiritual deafness which makes us incapable of hearing God speaking to us. As we heard on Sunday at Mass, we love that “the Lord hears the cry of the poor.” But what are we doing day by day to make sure we hear the Lord? Surely, it is to Him that we turn in our suffering and pain, but are we patient and humble enough to just be with Him, still our hearts, and listen for His voice?
