November 13: Saint Frances Cabrini / Santa Francisca Cabrini

We celebrate today the feastday of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. Also known as Mother Cabrini, St. Frances was the first United States citizen to be canonized. Her deep trust in the loving care of God gave her the strength to be a valiant woman doing the work of Christ. Her example of generous service still reminds us that the Kingdom of God is in our midst – often present in things like justice, forgiveness, love, peace, and goodness. While these things are admittedly hard to measure, our prayer is that we will play our part today in building the Kingdom based on them.

El Reino de Dios está entre nosotros. Está aquí, realmente, si hemos aceptado a Cristo y le hemos dejado que ilumine nuestras vidas. Celebramos hoy el memorial de Santa Francisca Javier Cabrini y su ejemplo nos indica que Jesús está también en realidades que no son directamente mensurables: justicia, perdón, amor, paz, y bondad. Que Dios todopoderoso nos ayude a construir su Reino sobre esas bases.
