Prior to the Ascension of the Lord, St. Luke tells us: “Jesus said to His disciples, ‘So it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised....”
From the first moments of that proclamation by the earliest disciples until today, the message of salvation has, indeed, been shared far and wide ... and it must continue to be shared until the end of time.
With all the changes in the Church and in society, neither Jesus nor His message have changed. His Gospel remains a call to live our lives to the full and in order to give glory to God.
Before coming to Mass this weekend, ponder these simple words:
“You write a new page of the Gospel each day,
through all that you do and whatever you say.
Others read what you write, be it faithful or true.
So what is the Gospel according to you?”
