May 11: Mother’s Day / Día de la Madres

For many, Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate important women in our lives and the blessing from God that they represent. While not technically a Catholic or Christian holiday at it core, Mother’s Day is still an important day of prayer and reflection for many, recognizing not only the gift of Mary to the Church, but the gift of mothers and motherlike figures in our lives.

Let us pray. “O God, today we celebrate mothers and those who have loved us with a mother's love, but the truth is, we ought to celebrate them every day. Their love manifests in small, subtle ways each day – even in the mundane that sometimes we can take for granted. We thank you for their sacrificial love and ask you to uplift them today. Thank you for the gift they are in our lives. In your Holy Name we pray. Amen.”

Para muchos, el Día de las Madres es un momento para celebrar a las mujeres importantes de nuestras vidas y la bendición de Dios que representan. Aunque técnicamente no es una fiesta católica o cristiana en su esencia, el Día de las Madres sigue siendo un importante día de oración y reflexión para muchos, en el que se reconoce no sólo el don de María a la Iglesia, sino el don de las madres y de las figuras maternales en nuestras vidas.

Oremos. “Oh Dios, hoy celebramos a las madres y los que nos han amado con el amor maternal, pero la verdad es que deberíamos celebrarlas todos los días. Su amor se manifiesta de formas pequeñas y sutiles cada día, en lo mundano que a veces damos por sentado. Te damos las gracias por su amor sacrificado y te pedimos que las eleves hoy. Gracias por el regalo que son en nuestras vidas. Te lo pedimos en tu Nombre Santo. Amén.”
