August 3: A Eucharistic People / Un Pueblo Eucaristico

In every Eucharistic celebration, Jesus invites us to eat and drink with Him. We are the guests not only at the Last Supper, but also at the multiplication of the loaves, as Sunday's Gospel told us. 

Jesus’ giving of Himself to us in the Eucharist has a double meaning. First, that we need to care for the hungry and dispossessed, and do what we can to help them. And second, that we must also commit ourselves daily and give ourselves often to one another, including pouring ourselves out in prayer, putting ourselves at the service of all of God’s children.

En cada celebración Eucarística, Jesús nos invita a comer y beber con Él. Nosotros somos los invitados no sólo de la Última Cena sino también de la multiplicación de los panes, como el Evangelio del domingo nos dijo.

El que Jesús se dé a nosotros en la Eucaristía tiene doble significado: Primero, que tenemos que preocuparnos por los hambrientos y desposeídos, y hacer lo que podamos para ayudarlos. Y segundo, que nosotros también nos comprometemos y nos entregamos los unos a los otros, poniéndonos al servicio de todos.
